13 day Rainforest, Volcano, Cloud Forest, Samara Beach Itinerary with eco-Plus lodging

Our family trip to Costa Rica was a trip of a lifetime and we will never forget the memories that were made. What made our trip so rich and stress free was having Luis as our guide and naturalist. He taught us so much about Costa Rica’s amazing culture, wildlife and biodiversity. Luis took us on amazing hikes and pointed out monkeys, sloths, snakes, birds and insects which we would have never seen without him. It was so nice that he drove us to each destination and a relief to not to have to worry about directions. Luis was a very safe driver and knew exactly where we should go next.

Highlights include seeing the amazing animals and waterfall at the La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Drinking coffee while listening to the birds and viewing the volcano from our hotel room at the Arenal Observatory Lodge. Swimming in the hot springs and hiking the trails with hanging bridges in Arenal. Ziplining and walking through the rainforest canopy hanging bridges and seeing a darling family of coati’s and monkeys. In Samara we enjoyed running on the beach in the morning, beautiful sunsets, cinnamon rolls and coffee at Roots bakery, freshly caught red snapper from the local fisherman grilled at the hotel and mangos from the tree.

We absolutely loved the food in Costa Rica. The fruit was the best I have ever eaten, especially the pineapple, mangos and papaya. Casado became our favorite dish and had to try it at every restaurant we went to. The Gallo Pinto at breakfast quickly became a favorite and I’ve already tried making it at home (not the same but I’ll keep trying 😊) The Costa Rican coffee was fantastic!!! Thanks again for planning such a wonderful vacation and we hope to visit Costa Rica again!
